Liaison in Bhutan

Karma Lhazom has an M.A. in Lifelong Learning: Policy and Management from the UCL Institute of Education in London, UK and an M.A. in Public Policy from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management in Seoul, South Korea.

Karma Lhazom worked as a civil servant at the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources for more than a decade advancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) policies and programmes, during which she has held various programme and leadership positions. Karma also served at the CSO sector, heading the READ Bhutan office, promoting community development in the field of basic literacy, ICT & livelihood skills, and women’s empowerment projects, using community libraries as a platform for these development initiatives. Currently, Karma is an independent consultant in the field of Education and Social Development and works with a skilling and production company to produce artisanal products.

Karma also engages in voluntary work and serves as board director of the local NGOs BCMD and Bhutan Toilet Organization.
