The Bhutan Network
The Bhutan Network was founded in 2013 by Kristel Josel and Ulrike Čokl. An Austrian based, and registered association, the Bhutan Network is a non-profit organisation that aims to connect people with varied skills in Bhutan and Europe. Our aim is to facilitate cooperation and exchange of like-minded people and create bonds based on mutual respect and interests.
We base our approach on the Bhutanese understanding of thuenlam. Thuenlam in Dzongkha, the National language of the kingdom of Bhutan, refers to “the harmonious way”, connection, friendship and cooperation. Our main target groups are – albeit not exclusively – people at grassroots level who constitute the backbone of a thriving society, but who often lack the means to network with would-be colleagues abroad.
Where We Are
The Bhutan Network – in Austria and the USA
The Bhutan Network exists as two related yet independently registered associations, one in Austria (Bhutan Network) and one in the USA (Bhutan Network USA). While separate administrative entities, the two associations work closely together on programs and projects, under the shared guiding principles of the Bhutan Network.
